Music That Flies You Home

The pilot
Ganthem is Gregor Szielasko from Winsen (Luhe), Germany. He is a volunteer firefighter and chief pilot of the fire-service air patrol (Feuerwehrflugdienst) of the Lower Saxony State Fire Brigade Association at its Lüneburg base.
When the forest-fire risk is high, he flies patrols over the forests of Lower Saxony with a crew of three – pilot, observer and forester. What he sees up there ends up in his songs: the wide open view, the responsibility, and the feeling of touching down at home after a long mission.
Every lyric starts in German, in his own words. They become songs about Christmas, love, saying goodbye – and the heroes of the fire service.
